Sometimes changes the way you think about your job. That was me last week! My wife and I went to Las Vegas to celebrate our 21st wedding anniversary (get it 21?).
We finished up some shopping because I'm a shoe guy. After leaving my favorite store, we decided to stop outside Bellagio and watch the famous water fountain show.
As we were watching two things happened. First, I was alerted about a new client who decided to start our program (yes I have an automation that alerts me when a new client starts with us). I was into the show so I left it alone.
As I was watching the show I noticed a few things. First, the crowd was drawn in. They were amazed. Kids were laughing, couples started putting their arms around each other, and there was a sense of awe in the air. When the show comes to an end people applaud.
Which brings me to the aha moment... The show is amazing, creates a significant experience, draws you in, and leaves you feeling emotions like joy, wonder and excitement. AND IT'S AUTOMATED! We are applauding a computer (and maybe a guy who wasn't even there).
And what does that have to do with you? Simple. Automation done right in your business should have the same effect. People shouldn't be thinking about some app. They should feel connected to you and in a relationship that is real, living, and authentic. Automation done right leaves people feeling more personally connected.
Remember the client I brought up at the beginning?
We had never met her before that order went through. Here's what happened...
A FRIEND SENT HER A YOUTUBE VIDEO (automation)
One of her friends (not a client of ours) and she were talking about the program my wife and represent. That friend was connected to another coach but when her friend asked questions, she sent her a video we created. We actually made the video to make it easier to answer a common question we get from clients (automation). Our now-client saw the video and felt connected to my wife. She decided to start our program immediately and wanted us to support her in her journey. Remember, we never met her before.
THE ORDER WAS PLACED AND WE CONTACTED HER (automatically)
Using Project Broadcast and an integration, our new client was added to our contact list, tagged, and messaged. We still haven't 1-2-1 chatted with her but she has been connected to us.
I WAS NOTIFIED OF HER ORDER AND TOOK A LOOK:
After the show when we had some downtime, I messaged her about her order, goals, and got the personal conversation going. She already knew us, had us in her contacts, and was excited to get going.
It was like the magic of a water show. This client is supported, getting excited, and all because automations we use freed us up to make a greater impact.
SO WHAT'S THE POINT
When thinking through your automations, text campaigns, and integrations, always ask yourself, "What experience will this create for the person or people I'm working to impact?"
It takes a lot of work behind the scenes for the water show to inspire awe. Make sure you're putting in the work to do the same in your business. Automation isn't set it and forget it. It's to create a powerful connection and to open the door for you do the right work.
